Hello and welcome!
My name is Brian Ward, and I serve as the chief editor at Kayakiye.com.
I started this site because I wanted to serve my readers with useful articles on kayaking for fishing, traveling and camping. Check back frequently for kayak reviews and valuable information on paddling, beginner kayaks and learning about the sport of kayaking.
Lifelong Passion
My introduction to kayaking came early as I began reading picture books on whitewater kayaking at 10 years old. I found it fascinating as I learned how kayakers took kayaks off 30 and 50-foot waterfalls. At 16, I bought a kayak, and the memories flooded through with each kayaking session as my addiction grew.
Camping with my wife and daughter, there was one morning where we took the kayaks out at 6 am into the morning fog on the lake and watched the sunrise. You can’t buy memories like that, and I wouldn’t sell them either.
I live with my wife and daughter in Los Angeles, and some of my interests that I will blog about here include:
- Kayaking
- Cycling
- Camping
- Fishing
The Goal of the Site
I have one chief goal at Kayakiye.com. I want to introduce kayaking to a new generation of enthusiastic kayakers and people who love the sport. You will get invaluable information and tips presented in a fun and enlightening way. Over time, I have learned how my readers have many interests related to kayaking, which is why the site posts on fishing, camping and traveling.
Always, I go back to thinking, “How does this help my readers?” I use that question to determine if I have given back the value that my readers deserve. I’m a marketer as well as a blogger, and I have learned how presenting things in the right way can build an audience. Marketing is all about good presentation and timing. I use the same skills in my blogging.
Continuing to Grow as a Kayaker
While I have learned a lot over the years as a kayaker, I continue learning even now in the sport. As a kayaker, I want to continue to grow in knowledge and memories of the sport. Kayakiye.com has firmly established a strong reputation for itself as an industry leader because we continue to publish valuable articles day in and day out that people can use to learn more about kayaking.
I’d like to take the time to say that I value the journey as much as the end result. It’d be great to see this site take off on the first day, but I love the process as much as the end goal. Kayaking is the type of thing where you want to be in the moment and enjoy every second as you put the paddle to the water. I apply that same philosophy to my blogging on kayaking.
We Cover a Variety of Kayaks Types
You have several kayak types that you will find written about here. This ensures that we cover reading material for every kind of kayaker. Some of the kayak types that we cover here include:
I’ve also written about several subjects on kayaking, which include how to choose a kayak paddle, how to store a kayak and how to transport a kayak.
Excellent Physical Activity
Kayaking serves as a low-impact activity where you can improve your aerobic fitness, flexibility and strength. One of the things that attracted me to the sport was that it was so easy to work on my cardiovascular health. I’m a fitness junkie, and I love to stay in shape. I do this through finding activities that I love to do, rather than something that won’t be as much fun. Kayaking improves the muscle strength in your back, arms, chest and shoulders. Along with that, it allowed me to enjoy the great outdoors. I didn’t have to work out at a gym, which I find kind of boring. There are better ways to stay fit and healthy.
Explore the World through Kayaking
I believe that outdoor activities should enrich your life. You don’t do them just to be healthy, you do them to have a richer and more fulfilling life. Kayaking gives you a creative outlet to explore and experience the world. You might go on a kayaking trip to Arizona, which requires some camping at the same time. The hours spent in the kayak could be considered time well invested in life.
Here’s a fact: Adventures make people happy! Whether you choose to kayak the Everglades of Florida or head to the Louisiana Bayou, you can trust that you will always have an adventure around the corner. In fact, you might call me the catalyst of your adventures. I’m here to inspire you and bring you new ideas so that you can live your best life today!
Who Did We Create This For?
Anyone who loves kayaking, whether a first-time kayaker or a seasoned expert who has gone on thousands of kayaking trips, we hope to bring you a little bit of everything. You will find everything from learning how to first get started kayaking to the more advanced kayaking techniques like the advanced S turn upstream. The site was made for anyone who loves to kayak, and they want to keep learning more about it.
One of the things that has kept my hands glued to the paddle has been the fact that I can get up close and personal with nature. In a boat with a motor, you often scare the wildlife away long before you can reach it. With a kayak, I’ve had countless times where I have quietly seen bald eagles, beavers, ducks and birds of every kind. Kayaks also do incredibly well with fishing. I like to use them for fishing because I can maneuver in tight corners that my competition can’t. The bottom line is that you can have a lot of fun with kayaking, and I hope that I communicate that in the coming articles that are written for this website.
Stay tuned!
